PodBytes – Episode 15: Flight Sims

Flight Sims

“Please Return Your Seatbacks and Tray Tables into Their Upright Positions. Thank You.”

It seems the mainstream gaming industry has eschewed the flight sim in today’s FPS-heavy marketplace. The once-thriving genre had, over time, splintered off into various sub-genres, catering to fans of space flight, historic wartime dogfights, and purists looking for the most painfully realistic and faithful representations of cockpits and controls from their aeroplanes of choice. Today, the medium isn’t dead by a long shot, but those looking to fill their aerial fix are forced to be at the beck and call of smaller developers pushing out the odd flight sim, or else are forced to become crafty to find these games.

We’ve also found some of these stalwart gamers on our very own team here at BnBGaming, who have been dedicated to flight sims since the early 8-bit and floppy disk days. Join us as we invite you into our hangar, pull up a cargo crate and reminisce for a spell about the golden days, and what the future holds.
